Inauguration of NEWSCAPES 4

Chandigarh, 3 rd March, 2017: The most awaited three day exhibition NEWSCAPES 4, of the Chandigarh Press Club in association with Punjab Arts Council was today organised at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Chandigarh. The exhibition was inaugurated by Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab & Administrator, U.T Chandigarh in the presence of Smt. Asha Kumari Jaswal, Mayor, Chandigarh. The exhibition was organized in the memory of Late Sh. Yog Joy, an eminent photojournalist of the region. Speaking on the occasion, “Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, congratulated Sh. Vikram Joy, son of Late Sh. Yog Joy and the team of Chandigarh Press Club on putting together a successful show. He further added that Late Sh. Yog Joy was a celebrated photojournalist and taking his legacy ahead by his son is a great effort. Addressing the media, Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, appreciated the efforts of the journalist fraternity in organising such laudable events”.  

Reduction of the monthly pass fee

Chandigarh, 3 rd March, 2017: In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (i) of Sub-Section (1) of Section 67 of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, The Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh is pleased to reduce the monthly pass fee from Rs. 250/- to Rs. 150/- of all personnel mentioned at Sr. No. 11 of above said notification dated 05.05.2015. 

Festival of India in the Netherlands

Chandigarh, 01 st March, 2017:   The Festival of India in the Netherlands is being organized from 26 January-27 March 2017. Sh. Subhash Ghosh, celebrated Music Maestro of Chandigarh has been sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India and Government of Netherlands to perform during the ‘Festival of India, from March 3 rd March to 10 th March, 2017. The festival of India will be held in several prominent cities of Netherlands. Sh. Ghosh has represented India on earlier occasions too worldwide. Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Subhash Ghosh shared that it’s a great honour for him to be the 1 st person from Chandigarh to represent at the ‘Festival of India’ in Netherland. He believes that music to be the best ambassador of goodwill and friendship. Sh. Subhash Ghosh would perform on Indian classical music and fusion of Indian western classical music. Education Program

Chandigarh, 23 rd February, 2017: Working under the able guidance of Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh-cum-President, SPCA-Chandigarh is touching new heights in the field of Animal Welfare every day.  In continuation of the process of animal welfare, SPCA with the co-ordination of Animal Husbandry Department Chandigarh started Human Education Program. On 23 rd February, 2017 SPCA organized a visit of students of Oakridge International School at SPCA premises.  Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Veterinary Officer, Manimajra educated these students about animal rights and also gave them the guidance regarding protection from aggressive dogs and how to avoid dog bite.                    They were also educated about objectives of SPCA and its motives and future plans.  Students were made aware about the deadly zoonotic diseases like rabies.     ...

Jaspal Bhatti Humor Festival

Chandigarh, 23 rd February, 2017: The city that Jaspal Bhatti loved is playing host to celebrate his vision and legacy by organizing the‘Jaspal Bhatti Humor Festival 2017’. The Department of Cultural Affairs, Chandigarh Administration will be bringing in big names in comedy to perform in the Fest to be held on 3 rd , 4 th and 5 th March at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh from 6.30-9 pm daily. Announcing this at a press conference at the UT Guest House, Sh. Jitender Yadav, IAS, Director, Department of Cultural Affairs said that the city had to pay its tribute to the master satirist in a special way. Last year it had been decided that every year on 3rd March, which is Mr Bhatti’s birthday, the Administration would organize a humor festival. This year the Festival would run for three days, the first day is dedicated to Punjabi comedy, the second to English and the third day to Hindi.
