Concluding function of Eye Donation awareness fortnight programme at GMCH-32

Chandigarh, 8 th Sep, 2017: The Eye Bank Department of Ophthalmology GMCH organized concluding function in collaboration with State Health Society ( NPCB , UT Chandigarh) on the occasion of  Eye Donation awareness fortnight (from 25 th August to 8 th September) today  8 th September, 2017  in  E- Block GMCH. About 250 people attended this function. Sh. Anurag Agarwal, IAS, Home Secretary cum Secretary Medical Education and Research was the Chief Guest during the occasion. He inaugurated the poster exhibition on eye donation and appreciated the efforts of all the students who participated in this competition. He further told that it should not be difficult to combat the corneal blindness in the country if all of us become sensitive and pledge for eye donation. Permission for raising platform in the common area

Chandigarh, 8 th Sep, 2017: A large number of dwelling units of General Housing Schemes, Employees Schemes, and other Special Category Schemes etc. have been allotted by CHB, wherein some common areas have been provided. Some of the allottees have raised a platform on the common area space in front of their D.Us where such space is mostly used by them only. Such allottees are approaching CHB for permission for raising platform in the common area in front of their D.U.        Therefore, Chandigarh Housing Board hereby allows rising of the platform in the common area in front of their DUs subject to the condition that the platform is within the common area and shall not cause any hindrance to free movement.  However, a penal charge of Rs.5000/-(Rs. Five thousand only) will be payable annually in the first month of every calendar year for the same.

9th Arts and Heritage Festival to be held in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 1 st September, 2017: The Department of Cultural Affairs, Chandigarh Administration is organizing the culturally enriching event of 9 th Arts and Heritage Festival from 8 th to 10 th September, 2017 at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh from 6:30 pm onward. The much awaited event will witness captivating performances by eminent personalities. On 8 th September there would be a performance by Padma Shri Malini Awasthi - an Indian folk singer who sings in Hindi language dialects like Awadhi, Bundelkhandi and Bhojpuri. She was awarded with the civilian honour of Padma Shri by the Government of India in the year 2016. Chandigarh, 24 th  August, 2017:  In pursuance of the order dated: 14.12.2016 issued by Hon’ble National Green Tribunal, Principal Bench, New Delhi, in the matter of Khalid Ashraf & Anr. Vs. U.O.I. & Ors. (O.A. No. 384 of 2016) and P.E.T.A., India Vs. U.O.I. & Ors. (O.A. no. 442 of 2016), it has been made to appear to me that a large number of people flying the kites, use synthetic/nylon-glass coated thread popularly known as Pakka thread/Dori and Chinese Maanjha/Dori. These Maanjhas/Doris, being made of synthetic material are non-biodegradable and thus cause serious injuries to human beings, birds and are equally disadvantageous & harmful to the wildlife/environment. In some cases, it had also caused death of humans and birds. Therefore, Sh.
