Visit of the Governor Punjab and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 13 th July, 2018: The Governor Punjab and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore today visited the Old Age Home, sector-15, the Observation- cum- Special Home, sector 25 and Nari Niketan, sector 26 in Chandigarh. The Administrator was accompanied by Sh. B.L. Sharma, IAS, Secretary Social Welfare & Women & Child Development, Smt. Navjot Kaur, PCS, Director Social Welfare & Women & Child Development, Chandigarh Administration and other officials of the Department.   During the visit, Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore inspected the kitchen, dormitory and common area built inside these buildings for the occupants. The senior citizens were ecstatic to meet the Administrator and shared their daily activities, feedback and experience of living together in harmony at a specially designated old age home. Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi invites city-based writers

Chandigarh, 10 th  July 2018 : Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi invites city-based writers (working or residing in Chandigarh) to submit unpublished book- length manuscripts in Hindi, English, Punjabi and Urdu. The best entries would be given financial assistance for publication under Grant- in- Aid scheme of the Akademi. The following categories will be considered: 1.      Poetry 2.      Short Story 3.      Novel 4.      Play 5.      Children’s Literature Entries may be submitted at the Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi office on 1st floor of the Divisional Library, Sector 34. Deadline for submission of manuscripts is 10th August, 2018. Length of manuscripts: Novels/ short stories: minimum 30,000 words, Poetry: minimum 70 pages, Play: minimum 30 pages (printed/ typed). Those authors who have availed Grant-in-Aid in the previous year are not eligible.

OPD Registration and Blood Collection Centre

Chandigarh July 9, 2018: It is hereby informed to the General Public that from 16.07.2018 onwards, the Government Medical College Hospital, Sector-32, Chandigarh will function from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and detail of OPD Registration and Blood Collection Centre is as under:- 1.      OPD Registration                              -         8:00 AM to 11:00 AM 2.      Blood Collection Centre Timings      _         8:00 AM to 3:00 PM (Monday to Friday) 8:00 AM to 12:00 Noon (Saturday) The Emergency services will be available round the clock as before.

Readmitted students in same government schools

Chandigarh July 9, 2018: All the 1299 students, who failed in Class X Board examinations, are being readmitted in same government schools. All the 4308 students, who have been placed under compartment in Class X Board examinations, are being admitted provisionally in Class XI of the government schools through centralized admission process subject to the availability of seat and marks obtained by such candidates. However, they shall attend remedial classes for the subject of Class X in which they have got compartment in the same government school till commencement of compartment examinations.

Motor Vehicle Act, 1988

Chandigarh, 6 th July, 2018: In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 129 read with provisions of clause (41) of Section 2 of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, the Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh is pleased to amend the Rule 193 of Chandigarh Motor Vehicle Rules, 1990 as follow;             In the said Rule, the words “or a Woman” are hereby substituted by the word “A Sikh person (including woman) wearing a turban”, with immediate effect.

World Population Awareness Generation and Mobilization Fortnight

Chandigarh, 3 rd   July, 2018: Govt. of India is celebrating World Population Stabilization Month w.e.f 27 th June, 2018 to 24th July, 2018. The month long activities are split into two fortnights i.e. 27th June till 10th July as World Population Awareness Generation and Mobilization Fortnight and 11th July To 27th July as Service Delivery Fortnight for Family Planning.  Likewise U.T. Chandigarh shall also be working on the similar pattern.  The campaign slogan for this year is “Ek Saarthak Kal ki Shurawaat, Parivaar Niyojan ke Saath” which is being disseminated in the general public through various awareness generation activities like bulk messaging, miking of the family planning messages, display of Banners and posters at health facilities, distribution of pamphlets to the general public. E-auction of vehicle registration numbers of new series "CH01-BT

Chandigarh, 3 rd July, 2018: It is for the information to the general public/residents of Chandigarh that the registration for participating in e-auction of vehicle registration numbers of new series " CH01-BT " for special/choice registration numbers 0001 to 9999 will start from 10.07.2018 (10:00 AM) and will continue till 16.07.2018 (05:00 PM) and the e-auction will start on 17.07.2018 (10:00 AM) and will continue till 19.07.2018 (05:00PM). The owner of the vehicle can register himself/herself on the National Transport website: https://parivahan.gov.in/fancy and the link of the same is available on the Chandigarh Administration, Transport Department website: www.chdtransport.gov.in and obtain the Unique Acknowledgement Number (UAN).
