World Population Awareness Generation and Mobilization Fortnight


Chandigarh, 3rd July, 2018: Govt. of India is celebrating World Population Stabilization Month w.e.f 27th June, 2018 to 24th July, 2018. The month long activities are split into two fortnights i.e. 27th June till 10th July as World Population Awareness Generation and Mobilization Fortnight and 11th July To 27th July as Service Delivery Fortnight for Family Planning.  Likewise U.T. Chandigarh shall also be working on the similar pattern. 

The campaign slogan for this year is “Ek Saarthak Kal ki Shurawaat, Parivaar Niyojan ke Saath” which is being disseminated in the general public through various awareness generation activities like bulk messaging, miking of the family planning messages, display of Banners and posters at health facilities, distribution of pamphlets to the general public.
The focus is being laid on sensitizing the decision makers in the families to promote marriage at right age, delay first child birth by two years and adoption of contraceptive methods. Special outreach camps in form of awareness generation sessions are being conducted at 10 vulnerable sites selected across UT Chandigarh during evening so that maximum beneficiaries are at home.
Dr. G. Dewan, Director Health & Family Welfare cum Mission Director, National Health Mission, GMSH 16, Chandigarh said that smaller families have a healthier and more prosperous future which builds the economic health of the entire nation. It is further stressed upon that the need of hour is to break the silence about family planning and take the responsibility to plan the families for bright future of the children.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
