Special electoral camp organised at DAV College, Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 2nd March, 2019: As a part of the ongoing Election Commission’s nation-wide awareness campaign “Systematic Voters Education & Electoral Participation” (SVEEP), the Election Department Chandigarh today organized a special awareness camp at DAV College, sector-10, Chandigarh. A large number of students including 1st time voters, visited the camp, where block level officers (BLOs) acquainted them with complete information regarding the use of EVMs and other machines related to the electoral process. Live demo of EVMs/VVPATs was done by the representatives of Election Department to explain the features and functioning of the machines used during electoral process. Students through mock polling cleared their doubts related to voting, especially about VVPAT, which is a new component introduced and added in the electoral process by the Election Commission of India. Member of Parliament Flags off E-Rickshaws at Punjab and Haryana High Court

Chandigarh, 1st March 2019: The Member of Parliament, Chandigarh, Smt. Kirron Kher flagged off E-Rickshaws at Punjab and Haryana High Court today . These E-Rickshaws were procured at a total cost of Rs.9.68 Lakhs under MPLAD Scheme by CREST (Chandigarh Renewable Science & Technology Promotion Society). These E-Rickshaws were handed over to District Bar Association of Punjab & Haryana High Court for promotion of E-Rickshaws in the city of Chandigarh. People will be benefited  to commute from Bus Stop area of High Court in the High Court area. The E-Rickshaws provided to Bar Association shall help in combating air pollution and shall promote the use of non-fossil fuel energy. The function was attended by Sh. Adviser Visits Le Corbusier Centre and Chandigarh Architecture Museum

Chandigarh, 1st March 2019:  The Advisor to Administrator Sh Manoj K Parida today visited the Le Corbusier Centre and Chandigarh Architecture Museum. Deepika Gandhi, Director Le Corbusier Centre and Chandigarh Architecture Museum briefed the Advisor about the historic significance of the Corbusier Centre as the old Architects’ office where Le Corbusier and his team worked. The Advisor found the exhibits outlining the planning and creation of Chandigarh very informative and  interesting. The Advisor then visited the Architecture Museum where the Chief Architect and Deepika Gandhi briefed him about the priceless documents, drawings and models that trace the history of Chandigarh from its very inception to the development of the city in the 1980s. He found the Edict of Chandigarh and furniture designed by Pierre Jeanneret particularly intriguing.The Advisor also appreciated the efforts taken to preserve the heritage of the city.

Deputy Commissioner Reviews Implementation of 'Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan dhan' Scheme in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 1 st  March 2019:  The Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, Sh, Mandip Singh Brar held a meeting today to review the status of 'Pradhan Mantri Shram-Yogi Maan dhan' Scheme in Chandigarh. Government of India, Ministry of Labour& Employment, Labour Welfare Organization, New Delhi has introduced a pension scheme for unorganized workers namely  Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan   (PM-SYM)   to ensure old age protection for unorganized workers. The scheme came into force from 15 th  February, 2019 across the country through  Common Service Centers (CSC). Election Commission of India Issues Orders Regarding Identification of Electors

Chandigarh, 1st March 2019:  It is for the information of general public that per the direction of the Election Commission of India, all the electors in all constituencies who have been issued EPIC have to produce the Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) for their identification in the polling station before casting their votes. The Adviser to Administrator holds a review meeting for emergency response arrangements

Chandigarh, 28th February 2019:  The Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. Manoj Parida, IAS today held a precautionary review meeting at U.T Secretariat with senior officials of Chandigarh Administration, to review the security arrangements and response mechanism in the city.  Deliberations were done by various stakeholders over continuous vigilance by security forces, medical preparedness, prompt availability of fire brigades, public transport, civil  defense  mechanism and safety measures to be taken beforehand to counter any kind of eventualities. Foundation stone of50 kWp SPV Power Plant laid at Lawyers Chamber, District Court Complex, Sec.43, Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 28 th  February 2019:   Smt. Kirron Kher, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Chandigarh today laid the foundation stone of50 kWp SPV Power Plant at Lawyers Chamber, District Court Complex, Sec.43, Chandigarh in the presence of Sh. Balbir Singh, District & Sessions Judge, UT Chandigarh. The Plant is being installed on the rooftop of Lawyers Chamber at a total cost of Rs.23.48 Lakhs under MPLAD Scheme and is being executed by CREST (Chandigarh Renewable Science & Technology Promotion Society). This plant will generate approximately 65000 units of electricity annually which will meet about 25% of the total energy consumption for this Chamber. While addressing the gathering, Smt.
