Solar Power Camps

Chandigarh, 31 January, 2016:  CREST & Department of Science & Technology, Chandigarh Administration & Yuvsatta-an NGO organized two successful ‘Solar Power Camps’ for city residents. One was at Khuda Ali Sher village and second one at Community Centre of Sector 8A, Chandigarh. Sh. Santosh Kumar, IFS Director, Department of Science & Technology and CEO, CREST was the Chief Guest at both the places, where he shared technical details of installing rooftop solar power plants with city residents along with information about available 30% subsidy and easy bank finance options.
Sharing his views Sh. Santosh Kumar, IFS said that Chandigarh Administration is totally dedicated in development of solar rooftop projects in the city. The administration has already successfully installed about 6.2 MW of rooftop solar photovoltaic plants in the city on 128 government buildings.  

And now Chandigarh administration is now eager to facilitate the proliferation of solar rooftop photovoltaic plants in the city of Chandigarh in the domestic and commercial consumer category. It was informed that  MNRE , Govt of India  is providing  30% capital subsidy on solar PV system through CREST only for residential buildings, schools, colleges etc. He further informed that CREST has empanelled 27  solar power aggregators with their rates displayed on crest website        (www.crestchd.org.in) and any person has freedom to get solar plants installed by any one of the emplaned aggregators but subsidy of 30% shall be restricted on L-1 rate. The L-1 rate obtained through E tender is as follows:
1.     From 1 kWp up to 5 kWp                 : Rs 85,000/- per kWp
2.     More than 5 kWp up to 10 kWp       : Rs 80,000/-  per kWp
3.     More than 10 kWp  up to 20 kWp   :  Rs 75,000/-  per kWp

He further added that any interested and environmentally conscious citizen can very easily contact their Department and get the Solar Power System installed at his place. Now, to facilitate further, Chandigarh Administration is very soon going to launch an online system  wherein any resident can apply online for all approvals for solar system and she/he can expect everything to happen without any hassle and sitting back at home.
After successful installation of Solar Power Plants in Govt sector now the target of CREST is to promote this eco-friendly technology for residential buildings and commercial installations too. And in days to come they’ll be holding more such awareness programmes to motivate more and more people to opt for clean Solar energy in the city.

On the occasion Sh. Santosh Kumar, IFS also honoured prominent representatives of 'The House-Holders Welfare Association, Sector 8 and also Panchayat members of village Khuda Ali Sher for their overall participation in the programme.
