Inaugration Of Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant

Chandigarh, 18th February, 2016: Today, Smt. Kirron Kher, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Chandigarh inaugurated 10 kWp Grid tied Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant at Government High School, Sarangpur, UT Chandigarh. The function was also attended by  Sh.Santosh Kumar, IFS, Director (Science & Tech), Sh.Birendra Choudhary, IFS, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Ms. Arpana, IFS, ACF and Sh. Chanchal Singh, Deputy Director, School Education and Principal of the School and other Senior officers/ officials of Chandigarh Administration.
On this occasion, Hon’ble Member of Parliament appreciated the efforts taken by Chandigarh Administration in developing Chandigarh as Model Solar City thereby installing Rooftop solar plants on 128 Govt. buildings of total capacity of 6.2 MW.
Chief Guest, Smt. Kirron Kher informed that she has adopted the ‘Sarangpur Village’ under ‘Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) of Government of India, so, it is necessary that we start thinking in a smart way and village of Sarangpur should be the smartest village of UT Chandigarh. One of the smart initiatives being started from this village is ‘Production of Renewable Energy’. Last Year, I inaugurated 50 KW Solar plant on Govt Model Senior Secondary School of Sarangpur. Now I can take pride in announcing that Village Sarangpur is the first Adarsh Gram of the country whose all schools are Solar powered and even Park is Solar Powered.
Sh. Santosh Kumar, IFS, Director (Science & Technology) & CEO (CREST), UT Chandigarh informed that 10 kWp Grid tied Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant Project has been implemented by CREST (Chandigarh Renewal Energy, Science & Technology Promotion Society) through M/s C&S Electric Ltd., New Delhi, who is the contracting firm. The total cost of the Project is Rs.10.83 lac which includes operation & maintenance charge for 10 years. The Plant shall be able to generate minimum 13,000 kWh (units) per year.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
