21st February, 2016: Pulse Polio National
Immunization round started in the U.T Chandigarh on 21st February
2016. Sh. Anurag Agarwal, Home Secretary-cum-Secretary Health, U.T Chandigarh inaugurated three days pulse polio campaign by
administrating polio to kids on polio booth at Central Bank of India,Sector-22
Chandigarh and Dr. V.K Gagneja Director
Health Services, U.T Chandigarh administered polio drops at Rose Festival to rose prince & princess.
On first day i.e 21st February 2016 as
many as 49958 children in the age group of 0-5 Years were given Oral polio vaccination,
According to Dr. Anu Chopra Dosajh, DIO. In this mass campaign more than 2200 vaccinators
from various departments including police department, education department,
Department of Social welfare along with Health department are participating to
make it a success. For next two days the teams will be going house to house to
cover unimmunized children.
On this
occasion, puppet show was also organized at Rose Festival to convey the message
of immunization and the programme was appreciated by visitors in the Rose
Garden. Caps carrying the message of immunization were also distributed to all
children, who visited polio booths. As an appreciation, prizes were given to
those children who had completed their immunization from Govt. Health
facilities of Chandigarh.
Central Bank team comprises Sh. Ajay Vyas,field
General Manager, Sh. Ishwar Singh, Senior Regional Manager, Sh.Y.P Dhiman,
Chief Branch Manager also provided traffic barricades for GMSH-16,Chandigarh.
