Chandigarh, 18 March, 2016: The final day of the faculty development
programme on Capacity Building of Holistic Skill Enhancement was held today in
Government Home Science College, Sector-10, Chandigarh about developing
interpersonal effectiveness and the role of teachers in dealing with emotional
problems of youth. Interactive sessions were conducted by Mr. Amit Hansa
professional skill trainer and Dr. Prabhjot Malhi, Professor,
Department of Pediatrics, PGI. Mr. Amit stressed that self disclosure;
perceptiveness and openness to feedback are the key skills that result in
interpersonal effectiveness. Dr. Prabhjot Malhi shared various case studies
pertaining to common themes which emerge in the narratives of troubled teens
and motivated the faculty to promote resilience in children.
Prof. Naval Kishore, Dean College
Development, Panjab University, Chandigarh delivered the valedictory address
and congratulated the college for taking a wonderful initiative to enrich the
knowledge of the faculty of various institutions. Principal, Dr. Sudha
Katyal implored the faculty to fine tune oneself where ever required
and be good mentors and help children by reframing success. More than 40
faculty members from the college as well as other institutions participated in
the workshop.
