CHB conversion of Sites & Services Policy

Chandigarh, 17 March, 2016: The Chandigarh Housing Board is formulating a policy with regard to conversion of Sites & Services in KP-II, Ram Darbar Colony from License System to Long Term Lease/Free Hold Basis.
It is stated that the Chandigarh Housing Board, Chandigarh has allotted Sites & Services in Rehabilitation Colony, Karsan Phase-II, Ram Darbar with raised structure i.e. Plinth of front room and structure of W.C. & Bath, on lease for a period of 5 years on monthly rent basis on the recommendations of the Estate Office, U.T., Chandigarh.  However, it has come to the notice of CHB that neither the license has been renewed nor the policy/scheme for conversion of allotment of license of Sites & Services into allotment of one room tenements has been framed with the result that the issue regarding allotment of one room flats to the license holders of Karsan Phase-II, Ram Darbar Colony,  on long term lease hold basis/free hold basis is held up since long and the said license holders are pressing very hard for an early allotment of One Room Tenements after conversion of their licenses.

In the meantime, many of the Sites & Services have further changed hands by the original allottees and no revenue is being earned by the Chandigarh Administration/Chandigarh Housing Board in the absence of regularization of such kind of allotments made in the past on license basis.  Even the transfer of title to the legal heirs in death cases of licensees also needs to be regulated for which a policy is required.

Chandigarh Housing Board is now taking up the issue of formulation  of a policy/scheme for conversion of Licenses, recommended by Chandigarh Administration and allotted by the Board to the licensees of Phase-II, Ram Darbar Colony, allotting One Room Tenements on Long Term Lease/Free Hold Basis including death cases of licensees, so that this issue regarding conversion of Licenses to the allottees of Phase-II, Ram Darbar Colony into free hold basis may be settled once and for all.
