125th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar



Chandigarh, 14th April, 2016: The 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was celebrated by the Chandigarh Administration with huge fervor and a series of events were conducted at various locations throughout the city. To achieve maximum participation of youth and adults from villages, the administration carried out a display van at various villages beginning from Khuda Ali Sher, Kaimbwala, Kishangarh, Daria, Mauli Jagran, Raipur Kala/Makhanmajra, Raipur Khurd, Behlana, Khuda Jassu, Khuda Lahora and Sarangpur showcasing slogans and quotes of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. A short film on the life, contribution and achievements of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was also organized for the people of Dhanas village.
Smt. Kriti Garg, IAS, SDM, South along with a team of officers from the Rural development department visited the villages, wherein an oath ceremony was conducted and people were enlightened about the contribution of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar towards the society.


As a part of the Rashtriya Samrastra Divas, the Chandigarh Administration has planned various events, which include:

·        Camps regarding loan scheme/skill development training programme, Nukkad Natak and Screening of Film on Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.
·        Cultural activity, Mehendi and Hair style competition, Special Sanitation Drive, Medical Camp (eye-dental-blood test at Village Khuda Jassu from 9:00 am-1:00 pm and Chetna Rally.
·        Prabhat Pherries and Gram Sabha in the evening at villages.
·        Poster making competition for students of class VI - VIII and IX- XII in Schools- "Mera Aadarsh Gram/ My Model Village"
·        Inter village Sports Meet in Khuda Alisher- Kabbadi ,Wrestling, Kho Kho, Tug of War.
·        Essay Competition in Schools on the topic, " Samajik Samta se Gaon ka Vikas/ Village Development through Social Equality"
·        Declamation competition in Schools on the " Role of Social Harmony in Nation Building/ Rastra Nirman mein Samajik Samta ki Bhoomika”, Cultural programme- Dance and Geet functions, Medical Camp (eye-dental-blood test) at various villages and Prize distribution in schools.

Administrator Launches Website of Sports Department Chandigarh

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
