Society informed that Youth of the new era have to be targeted by creating
awareness to prevent and make them healthy to make the world healthy and free
from HIV/AIDS. Adolescents need accurate, culturally relevant, age-appropriate
information about HIV transmission and infection. This includes how to talk
with their parents or other trusted adults about HIV/AIDS, how to reduce or
eliminate risk factors, how to talk with a potential partner about risk
factors, where to get tested for HIV.
Comprehensive sexuality education is
a key factor to reducing HIV among new generations. Despite the recent focus on
abstinence and delaying sexual initiation, adolescents are still engaging in
sexual behaviors. It is very important to give correct education about Health
issues to adolescents in schools and colleges.
To address this issue Chandigarh
State AIDS Control Society is continuously conducting various awareness
programmes in Schools and Colleges to sensitize youth about HIV/AIDS Prevention.
