Chandigarh bags PM’s Award for Excellence at the 10th Civil Services Day

Chandigarh, 21st April, 2016: Chandigarh has been conferred with the coveted Prime Minister Award for excellence in Public Administration among ‘UT Category’ Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana.  This award was bestowed upon Sh. Ajit Balaji J0shi, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Chandigarh by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Sh. Narendra Modi at a glittering ceremony held in New Delhi today on the occasion of Civil Services Day. The PM Awards for Excellence in Public Administration have been instituted with a view to acknowledge, recognize and reward the extraordinary and innovative work done by officers of the Central and State Governments for the welfare of common citizen.  
A new category of Excellence in implementing a Priority Programme which includes Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna (PMJDY), Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen), Swachh Vidyalaya and Soil Health Card Scheme has been added to the Prime Ministers Awards for Excellence in Public Administration. Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna (PMJDY), Chandigarh was conferred with an award for exemplary work showcased by the Union Territory.

As a part of the initiative, the Chandigarh Administration has achieved the target of one account per household within 7 months of launch of PMJDY. For enhancing enrolment under PMJDY, special counters were set up in various public dealing offices like the DC office, SDM & Estate office. Asha and aganwari workers were also enrolled, outsourcing agencies enrolled their manpower, labour department was actively involved, awareness programs were conducted and destitute women and widows were also enrolled.
The major achievements of Chandigarh under the PMJDY include:
·        222853 accounts have been opened under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna
·        Total 59 crore amount deposited in PMJDY accounts
·        Several camps, programmes, surveys and meetings were conducted through radio FM, Print, Media, Pamphlets and road shows for mass awareness
·        49778 people enrolled under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana
·        127389 people enrolled under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana
·        2800 people enrolled under Atal Pension Yoja
·        1,99,196 accounts seeded with Aadhar out of 2,22,853 accounts opened
·        Total 1, 02,725 RuPay cards activated out of which 1,82,414 have been issued.
·        25 Active Bank Mitra in Chandigarh
·        40, 615 transaction worth Rs. 30.28 Cr. In last three months by Bank Mitra

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
