Get Set For A Memorable Ride On City Roads

Chandigarh, 2nd April, 2016: The double-decker roof top open tourist coach bus - entity of Chandigarh, was flagged off by Hon’ble Member of Parliament Smt. Kirron Kher, in the presence of Smt. Kavita Singh, IAS, Managing Director, CITCO, Sh. Jitender Yadav, IAS, Director Tourism, Smt. Navjot Kaur, PCS, Chief General Manager, CITCO and other officers of Chandigarh Administration and Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, from the prominent tourist resort, Sukhna Lake, here today. It was like a dream come true for the city residents. During the inaugural ride, starting from the Sukhna Lake to Hotel Shivalikview, in Sector 17, there were officers from Chandigarh Administration, Municipal Corporation, tourists, visitors, students and children of all age group, who immensely enjoyed the ride.
According to CITCO Managing Director Smt. Kavita Singh, IAS, “The Chandigarh Administration has always endevoured to add attractive features to attract tourists from across the country. Besides the tourist destinations this double-decker tourist coach will be an added attraction not only for the residents but for the tourists as well.” She further added said “In the past as well, this double deck Hop-on-Hop-off bus has remained a tourist attraction and has ferried tourist to all the must visit places in the city”.
Smt. Kavita Singh, IAS further added, “It is for the first time that double-decker tourist coach ferry tourists daily on a designated route from 8 am to 7 pm. The bus shall move between Hotel Shivalikview in Sector 17 to Sukhna Lake and shall cover all major spots of the city.”
The major destinations covered in the route include the Rose Garden in Sector 16, the Museum and Art Gallery in Sector 10, the Bougainvillea Garden in Sector 3, the Rock Garden and will ending up at Sukhna Lake. One can enjoy all the spots and feel at ease as the Double Decker Tourist Coach shall provide an ample opportunity to the Tourists to spend as much as time as they want to spend at a particular Tourist spot. The Tourist Coach shall ply all the times in an hourly itinerary tour.
 The newly overhauled red-coloured 66-seater bus will be a major tourist attraction and the upper deck will add to the amazement of the passengers. The bus has a Public Address system (PA) to impart information about the tourist spots to visitors and tourists while on the wheels.
 What more, the Exterior of the bus has been beautifully designed that highlights all the architectural marvels of the city and gives an insight into the prominent tourist spots of Chandigarh.
