Chandigarh, 26th April,
2016: A meeting was held today at U.T. guest
house under the chairmanship of Sh. Ajit M. Sharan, Secretary, Government of
India, Ministry of Ayush to discuss the arrangements to be made for International
Yoga day to be celebrated at City Beautiful, Chandigarh which has already been
selected for the event. However, it is likely that The Hon’ble Prime Minister
Sh. Narendra Modi will attend the program but no
official confirmation has been received on the same.

Secretary, Government of Haryana along with other senior officers of Chandigarh
Administration, Government of Punjab and Haryana were present during the
meeting.
The
agenda of the meeting was to discuss about the arrangements to be made for the celebration
of International Yoga day on 21st June. The officials from Ministry
of Ayush showcased a presentation about the last year’s Yoga day celebrations
at New Delhi to brief the panel about preparations done for the success of the
event.
Discussions
took place to finalize the venue for the grand event, and to chalk out concrete
plans for the success of the same. However the venue for the event in
Chandigarh is yet to be finalised. The Security arrangements were another
important concern that came forth the officials after a stretched discussion on
deciding a venue for the event.
Governments of
Punjab and Haryana have assured to provide maximum assistance in making the
program a grand success. It was also discussed that people from neighbouring
areas of these states will also participate and do Yoga on 21st June
2016. AYUSH ministry has finalised a protocol of Yoga Asanas which will
be performed on 21st June 2016. Proper training of participants will
also be organised.
The
officers of Chandigarh Administration have ensured to provide different avenues
for citizens to participate in this event.
