Preparations for Celebration of 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar

Chandigarh, 9th   April, 2016: A meeting was held today in the U.T. State Guest House, under the Chairmanship of Sh. K. Narasimha, IAS, Secretary Rural Dev. & Panchayats, Chandigarh Administration regarding Celebration of 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar as Govt. of India has declared 14th April as “Rashtriya Samrasta Divas” and proposed to undertake a ‘Gramodaya Se Bharat Udaya’ Abhiyan in all Gram Panchayats and Gram Sabhas from 14.04.2016 to 16.04.2016 which will be completed on 24.04.2016.  The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, Chairperson, Zila Parishad, Chandigarh, Chairman, Panchayat Samiti, Chandigarh, Members of Zila Parishad/Panchayat Samiti, Sarpanches of U.T. villages, Representatives of Social Welfare Department, Chandigarh, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Study Circle, Seva Bharti and Bharat Vikas Parishad participated. 
                   In the meeting it was decided that the following programmes will be organised from 14.04.2016 to 24.04.2016 :-

(i) Garlanding the photograph of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
(ii) Taking an oath to strengthen social harmony.
(iii) Making people aware about the thoughts of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
(iv) Explaining Government Schemes to reduce inequality by sharing/distribution of literature on various social welfare programmes.
(v) Felicitation of bright children at panchayat level in various fields i.e. education, sports, art and culture etc.
(vi) Organization of debates/workshop on Samajik Samrasta, Social Empowerment and Gram Panchayat Development Plan.

                   In addition, the Gram Panchayats of U.T. Chandigarh will call the Gram Sabhas meeting, specially for the upliftment of the women, S.C. community, Children and the Sr. Citizens.   In association with the NGOs, the Chandigarh Administration shall organise Prabhat Pheris in the City.  A van displaying  Photograph of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s literature shall have a round in the city for spreading the vision of the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.   A common State level function shall also be organised.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
