Distribution of Rupay Cards/ ATM Cards to the Pension Beneficiaries

Chandigarh, May 23, 2016: The Department of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development organised a function for distribution of Rupay Cards/ ATM Cards to the pension beneficiaries at Senior Citizen Home, Sector 43-A, Chandigarh today. Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Smt. Kirron Kher, was the Chief Guest on this occasion and she distributed Rupay Cards/ATM cards to 52 pension holders. The main objective of the department is to provide Social Security/ financial assistance to widows and old age persons who are without any means of subsistence. Earlier, old age/ widow/ Disabled pension whose family income was upto Rs.12,000/- p.a was provided @ Rs. 200 - Rs.500/- p.m. to those. Now, the rate of all pensions i.e. old age/ widow/ Disabled and Dependent Children of widows pensions has been increased from Rs. 200 - Rs.500/- to Rs.1000/- p.m. w.e.f. 01.04.2016. The rate of Disabled pension has been increased from Rs.500/- to Rs.1000/- p.m. to the persons having disability from 40% to 70% and Rs.2000/- to the persons having disability more than 70%.

In order to facilitate the distribution of pension benefit, the department has now introduced distribution of pension through Rupay Cards/ ATM w.e.f. 01.04.2016 in collaboration with ICICI bank. The Hon’ble Chief Guest appreciated the efforts done by the department and effective implementation of the Welfare Schemes. Ms. Nishu Singal, Director Social Welfare gave vote of thanks to the Chief Guest and all the participants.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
