First Museum Festival to Commemorate the International Museum Day

Chandigarh, 18th May, 2016: The Government Museum and Art Gallery, Chandigarh organized the first Museum Festival to commemorate the International Museum Day observed worldwide on 18th May.

As part of the festival, a series of workshops spread over three days have been organised for children. Director Museum & Art Gallery, Smt. Kriti Garg, IAS inaugurated the Animation and Comic Book Art workshop on 18th May which was facilitated by Subhasis Neogi of the Puppet Theatre, Chandigarh who has an experience of almost 10 years in exploring the potential of different media in education. The workshop was attended by 31 enthusiastic students from different schools of the city. The children drew their own comic story either creating their own characters or picking them up from mythology. They also got to explore animation by making different frames and their own thermotrope and zoetrope. 

Other workshops to be held in the next two days are: storytelling through Kavad on the 19th May, 2016 and clay modeling workshop on the 20th May. 
An exhibition of the artworks created by the children on the museum’s anniversary day celebrated on 6th May has also on display for visitors. 

Kriti Garg, IAS, Director Museum, informed that the museum festival will be a regular annual feature geared towards reaching out to the people of the tricity. She also added that the Government Museum and Art Gallery now has its official facebook page in its name through which it is engaging the people of the city by sharing its events and also the collection. Each day will carry an image of the “Object of the Day”, with the purpose of enticing people to come and see the museum.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
