Health Department in Collaboration with Max Superspeciality Hospital and UCO
Bank organized a Health Camp at Civil Dispensary, Mauli Jagran today. Special Secretary
Health Dr. Adapa Karthik inaugurated the health camp and was welcomed by Dr.
Vanita Gupta, Director Health Services at the venue. Mr. N.C.Srivastava, Deputy
Circle Head, UCO Bank was guest of honour on this occasion. During the inauguration
he assured that such type of Health Camps will be organised in future also for
the benefit of public in collaboration with Chandigarh Health Department. Mr.
U.C.Saxsena, Zonal Head, UCO Bank, Chandigarh along with senior officials from
Health Department was also present.
Dr. Manjeet Singh, Programme Officer,
NCD highlighted on emergence of Non Communicable diseases as a major disease
burden and importance of lifestyle modifications particularly diet and physical
activity.
Specialists from field of Medicine,
Gynae, Surgery, Skin, Eye and Dental examined patients and prescribed medicines
.Total of 980 persons were registered & examined at the camp and 162 were
examined for eye problems and refractive errors. Approx. 250 people were
examined at Medical OPD and were given treatment accordingly. 80 patients were
examined for skin problems and treated for various skin ailments like scabies,
acne & taenia. Two confirmed cases of leprosy & one suspected case of leprosy
was detected.
Total of 110 patients were screened for diabetes
out of which 15 were suspected for diabetes and referred to physician for
further management and given treatment accordingly. 237 patients screened for Hypertension
& obesity, 28 were found to be hypertensive & 54 were found to be
overweight & 135 were obese. All these patients were counselled by expert
dietician at the camp for weight management. Total of 89 people were screened
for oral cancer & 7 were found to be suffering from submucous fibrosis.
Keeping in view the rise in no. of cases
of Breast and Cervical Cancer cases in Chandigarh, two senior gynaecologists
Dr. Vanita Suri, HOD Obs. & Gynae, PGIMER & Dr. Seema Sharma, MAX
Hospital, were present at the camp. They examined approx. 40 females for Breast
and Cervical Cancer, out of which 18 were screened by VIA (Visual Inspection
with 5% Acitic acid) for Cervical Cancer and 3 were suspected for Cervical
Cancer.
Doctors from health department and Max
Hospital participated actively in the camp. Nursing students from School of Nursing,
GMSH-16 conducted risk profiling of people > 30yrs.
Health Counselling was given in small
groups to Community regarding adoption of healthy lifestyle like physical
activity and early detection, signs and symptoms, timely referral and
management of Non communicable diseases. A special HIV/AIDS awareness
exhibition was put up along with free HIV/AIDS counselling & testing. All
health care providers under health department participated actively in the camp
and took pledge to promote healthy lifestyle to prevent Non- Communicable
diseases. Senior leaders from Maulijagran expressed heartfelt gratitude to
Health Department in arranging such type of Multispeciality camp and committed
to provide all assistance for benefit of the community.
Pamphlets regarding signs & symptoms
of Oral, Breast self examination, Cervical Cancers, risk factors associated
with Non communicable diseases, healthy diet, diet during diabetes,
hypertension etc were distributed to public to generate awareness.
Mobile
food testing lab of Chandigarh Health Department visited the venue and tested 20
no. of milk samples and all were found to be OK.
