Inspections at Private Coaching Institutes of Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 6th May, 2016: Private Coaching Institutes, providing coaching for children in Chandigarh were inspected today by National Commission for Protection of Child Rights in Collaboration in association with the Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights with Participation from Haryana and Punjab Commissions for Protection of Child Rights.
 The team consisted of Sh. Priyank Kanoondoo, Member, NCPCR, Smt. Shaista Shah, Smt. Geetanjali and Sh. Rajnikant. Prof Devi Sirohi, Chairperson, CCPCR, Prof. Nishtha Jaswal and Sh. Pramod Sharma, Member, CCPCR along with Sh. Paramjit Singh Badola from Haryana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, and Dr Khanna from Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights also participated in the inspection. 
The inspection was conducted in order to understand the process of enrollment, class strength, counseling support being provided to the students and how the students were managing with the stress of preparing for the competitive examinations. The team visited number of reputed coaching institutes and interacted with students to get their viewpoint. The team also visited the Paying Guest Accommodations in and around the institutions.
 The inspection was followed by a meeting which included Members of Child Welfare Committee, Chandigarh, District Child Protection Unit, Police and Education Department. Instructions and suggestions were given to all stakeholders to ensure the safety of the children.
