Chandigarh, 3rd May, 2016: Mobile Food Testing Laboratory of Food Safety
Administration, Govt. Multi Specialty Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh the first
such laboratory in India has received a very good response from the Community
not only from Chandigarh but from Mohali and Panchkula.
Dr.
Rajinder K. Sharma SMO (Ortho)-cum-Designated Officer incharge Food Safety
Administration has thanked the people of tricity for their co-operation and
Co-ordination.
Now
the Mobile Food testing Laboratory will also visit the various Sectors and Markets
of Chandigarh. A communication letter regarding this has been sent to the Mr.
Bhaljinder Singh, Chairman Federation of Sector Welfare association to
co-operative ad co-ordinate with Food Safety Administration. The Food Safety
Administration Department has in near future will also visit the school,
college, universities, fruits vegetables market.
Now
at the venue of Mobile Food Testing Laboratory either at medical health
institutes of Chandigarh or at Sector Welfare/ Market Welfare Association place
alongwith food testing. The information, education, communication activities by
the Food Safety Administration will be done and lectures, seminars, meeting
will be held with the community and Food Business Operations.
The special drive to check the licence certificate
and registration certificate will be done and to encourse the Food Business
Operations who has still got made their licence certificates and registration
certificate to not the formal knowledge how to get these certificate.
The
Food Safety and Standards Authority of India
has provided the advanced electronic milk adulterants test checking
machine (EMA to the Food Safety Administration department Chandigarh. This will
be a new addition to the inventory of Mobile Food Testing Lab. The special emphasis
during summer will on non alcoholic beverage, sakanjvi, ice product, packed
water bottle, fruits like Kharbuja, watermelon, khira and vegetable meat and
meat products, cut fruits checking of milk and milk products as there are
chance of synthetic milk and milk product this season. The milk & milk
products, kitchen products like Haldi, Oils, namak, masalas, ghee, pulses,
grains are being tested for any adulteration. The common adulterant being used
are urea, detergent powder, Vanaspati ghee, chalk, starch, synthetic coloum.
The fruit and vegetable food business operation are advised not to ripen the
fruits with banned masala and not to use Injection oxytocin. The meat and meat
product should be authorizes stamped by Doctor incharge slaughter house Chandigarh.
In the last month 15 out of 70 milk and milk product sample failed the test and
3 out of 15 turmeric sample failed. The community and people of Chandigarh
advised to get the receipt cash slip from the Food Business Operation and then
bring the food sample for Food testing based on this the Food Safety
Administration will start the legal action against the Food Business Operators.
There is a provision of find upto Rs 10 lakh and imprisonment upto seven year
and sealing of the Food Business Operators premises and cancelation of the
licence and the registration certificate.
