A meeting was held today at the U.T. Secretariat under the chairmanship of Sh.
Parimal Rai, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh to review the
preparations being done for the celebration of International Yoga Day to be
held in Chandigarh on 21st June, 2016.
Sh. Sarvjit Singh, IAS, Finance Secretary,
U.T., Chandigarh, Sh. Anurag Agarwal, IAS, Home Secretary, U.T., Chandigarh, Sh.
Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, U.T., Chandigarh and other senior
officials of the Chandigarh Administration were present during the meeting. Representatives
of Patanjali Yogapeeth, Art of Living, Isha Foundation and other Yoga centric organizations
were also a part of the meeting.
During the meeting, it was discussed that
around 1000 master trainers from different Yoga organizations will be trained
in the Yoga orientation program, which is being held at the Sector 16 Stadium. These
trainers would them impart training at around 200 venues finalized by the
Chandigarh Administration across the city. Month long public training camps
will be conducted from 21st May till 21st June, 2016. To ensure smooth
functioning of the grand event, a Control Room has been established by the
Chandigarh Administration, wherein nodal officers from various departments would
get together to share and discuss daily updates.
Trainers, members of Resident Welfare
Association and volunteers would be present at every camp to ensure that proper
training is given to public for the final event. Registrations for the public
camps will be done online and offline.
Officers from the Chandigarh Administration,
NCC volunteers, NGO volunteers, self help group volunteers, corporate
organizations volunteers, Resident Welfare Association Volunteers will work
together for the success of this event.
To create awareness among the masses about the
latest happenings of the grand event, social media platforms will be used
extensively. The launch of the mobile app for the online registration, Social
media page on Facebook & YouTube will be done early next week.
