Chandigarh, 8th June,
2016: As a preparatory activity for control of Malaria
and Dengue in the coming season the Malaria wing of Health Department,
UT-Chandigarh today organized Health Awareness camp/ advocacy workshop at
Village Burail.
The awareness camp was attended by Dr.
Inderpal Singh-Epidemiologist, Dr. Navneet Kanwar (Medical Officer I/c CH-45),
staff from the Malaria wing, opinion leaders and general public from the area.
Dr. Inderpal Singh stressed on active
community participation at all levels to prevent occurrence of mosquitogenic
situation in the area. He outlined the preventive steps for this purpose and
assured continuance of anti larval and anti adult measures for mosquitoes with
full zeal in the season. He also urged all to maintain vigil over the water
borne diseases in the area.
Various teams were constituted by the
NVBDCP Staff for carrying following field activities. 50 slides were examined
during the camp.

Checking of coolers.
2.
Anti larval activities.
3.
Anti adult activities.
4.
IEC activities by door to door visits by
the staff and distribution of pamphlets.
5.
Mega phone announcements for general
awareness to the public.
An Entomological Exhibition was
organized for public awareness. Display of sign and symptoms of Malaria as well
as hand bills distribution amongst the general public was also done.
A
rally was also flagged off by the Officers and local leaders of Village Burail
for creating awareness for prevention and control of vector borne diseases.
