to Administrator Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS stressed for availability of diagnostic
services at all health facilities while inaugurating the medical screening camp
at Civil Dispensary, Ramdarbar today. This is the fourth camp in the series
organized by Chandigarh Health Department in Collaboration with Gynae deptt.

Health welcomed the Advisor and asked the Health Department to provide the best
facilities to urban, sub-urban and rural house-holds of Chandigarh. Dr. Vanita
Gupta, Director Health Services after welcoming the Advisor and Secretary
Health assured them that optimum Preventive, Diagnostic and curative will be
provided to people.
Specialists
from field of Medicine, Gynae. , Eye, Skin and ENT examined patients and gave
free consultation. Around 825 patients were and examined at the Camp and approx
347 people were examined at Medical OPD and were given treatment.
Senior Gynaecologists screened aprox.19
females above 30 yrs. for Breast and Cervical Cancers, out of these two were
suspected for Cervical Cancer. . Total 43 people
were examined by ENT specialist and one was found to be suspected for Oral
Cancer. Total of 85 people were examined for skin diseases and majority were
found to be having photodermitites and articaria.
Nursing
students from School of Nursing, GMSH-16, conducted risk profiling of people
> 30yrs. Out of 72 people screened for Diabetes 12 were found to be
suspected for diabetes and out of 293 people screened for Hypertension and
Obesity, 39 were found to be hypertensive, 47 were overweight and 107 were
found to be obese.
Counselling
was also given in small groups to Community regarding adoption of healthy
lifestyle like physical activity weight management, and early detection, signs
and symptoms, timely referral and management of Non communicable diseases by
Dietician. approx.68 people were tested for HIV and 136 people were examined by
Eye specialist at the venue.
An
informative and educative exhibition on HIV/ AIDS , Malaria and Leprosy was
organized to generate awareness amongst visitors. All health care providers and
community leaders participated actively in the camp and also motivated general
public for adoption of healthy lifestyle to prevent NCDs.
