National Awards of Excellence

Chandigarh, 16th June, 2016: Sh. Parimal Rai, Adviser to Administrator, Sh. M.P. Singh, Principal Secretary to Governor, Sh. Anurag Agarwal, Home Secretary, Sh. Santosh Kumar, Director Science and Technology & Renewable Energy and CEO CREST along with project managers two National Awards of Excellency received from Government of India to the Governor of Punjab, Haryana and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki.

Congratulating the Adviser to Administrator, Sh. Parimal Rai and his team for getting these National Awards of Excellence, the Administrator said that it was a proud moment for Chandigarh that a small territory has competed with big states of India and got these awards of excellence. He said that this is a true encouragement for Chandigarh Administration. He asked the officers to try their best to maintain this in future also.

Giving details regarding the awards, Sh. Santosh Kumar, IFS informed  that CREST has received following National Excellence Awards  from the MNRE, Govt. of India on 7th June, 2016 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi for its excellent performance in the field of Solar Energy.

1.  National Excellence Award 2016 for Rooftop Solar Projects as number one Solar City of the Country.

2. National Excellence Award 2016 to CREST as top performing State Nodal agencies for Renewable Energy  among UTs & special category states

These awards were conferred to Chandigarh by Shri Piyush Goel, Minister of State (I/C) for Power Coal and New and Renewable Energy

CREST is a society (State Nodal Agency for Chandigarh) under the aegis of Dept of S & T and Renewable Energy with Adviser to administrator as its Chairman.

He further informed that there are only five technical staffs on contract employed in CREST who were instrumental in getting these awards. Sh. Ravinder Singh is Project Director and Four project managers are, Sh. Amit Sahu, Sh. Ujwal Kumar , Sh. Kumar Vikram and  Sh. Sukhwinder Singh
