Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan

Chandigarh, 10th June, 2016: India has made considerable progress over the years in the sector of health. Different initiatives for Safe Motherhood have been found to be effective for addressing the maternal health issues. In view of this, Government of India has decided to launch “Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan”(PMSMA), a fixed day strategy, every month across the country during which a range of quality maternal health services are envisaged to be provided as part of Antenatal Care.

Under the campaign, a minimum package of antenatal care services is to be provided to the beneficiaries on the 9th day of every month at the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Clinics to ensure that every pregnant woman receives at least one checkup in the 2nd/ 3rd trimester of pregnancy.

Chandigarh held its first “Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan”(PMSMA), at EWS Dhanas. The beneficiaries were informed about the activity during the IEC activities in the last 2-3 days. There was a good turnover of the beneficiaries. The Antenatal checkup was done by Medical Officers of EWS Dhanas and Mani Majra. The basic investigations of blood and urine were also carried out. All the pregnant women were counselled about Care during pregnancy, Nutrition, Importance of institutional deliveries, child Care etc.

101 pregnant women were examined by doctors, investigations (Blood tests and urine tests) of 85 beneficiaries were conducted, and 90 were administered Iron and Folic Acid tablets and calcium tablets. The High Risk Pregnancies were identified and referred for further specialised care to GMSH 16 and CH 22

The Director Health, Dr. Vinita Gupta who is committed to improve the Maternal and Child Health has ensured that this activity was done in full spirit. On the 9th of the subsequent months this activity will be carried out in all Health institutions in a phased manner.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
