Chandigarh, 6th July, 2016: The Department of Forests & Wildlife, Chandigarh Administration is celebrating Van Mahotsava-2016 from 8th July to 18th July with the following events:

Paudhamela
A Paudh Mela will be organized at Parking Place near Lake Club at Sukhna Lake. There shall be three stalls of Forest Department, Horticulture Wing of Municipal Corporation and that of Engineering Department. All residents of Chandigarh can obtain saplings of various tree species either free of cost (Forest Department) or at nominal rates (Municipal Corpn & Engineering deptt. Also technical knowhow of plantation and post plantation care will also be provided
       Plantation Drive will be carried out at Nagar Van Udhyan Yojana Site behind Sukhna Lake.
       Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT Chandigarh shall be the Chief Guest.

11th July, 2016 (Monday)
Eco-Club Day
All the Eco-Clubs formed in the Schools/ Colleges of UT Chandigarh will be asked to carry out plantation work in their respective schools/ placed. One ceremonial function will be organized at Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School,          Sec.37-B, Chandigarh. 50 kWp Solar Power Plant shall also be inaugurated at School campus
      Sh. Santosh Kumar, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests-cum-Chief Wildlife Warden, UT Chandigarh shall be the Chief Guest.

13th July, 2016 (Wednesday)
NGO Day
All the NGOs registered under Partnership Initiative Programme (PIP) will be asked to carry out tree plantation drive and one Ceremonial function may be carried out in one of the place to be identified later.

15th July, 2016 (Friday)
Herbal Day
On this day, Distribution of medicinal plants to various Schools, Public shall be done and one ceremonial function shall be held for plantation of Herbs. One Ceremonial function will be held at Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Sector 47-D, Chandigarh 50 kWp Solar Power Plant shall also be inaugurated at School Campus.
     Sh. Anurag Agarwal, IAS, Secretary (Forests & Environment), UT Chandigarh shall be the Chief Guest.

Residents Welfare Day
On this day, all the Resident Welfare Associations will be asked to carry out tree plantation drive in their sector/ colony and one Ceremonial function may be carried out in one of the place to be identified later.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. 'X’ houses will be covered in the coming days too to track the unimmunized children and give them polio drops. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
