Certificate Distribution Programme

Chandigarh, 12th July, 2016A Certificate Distribution Programme was held at Model Jail, Chandigarh today where 48 students were presented Degrees and Certificates. Among 24 IGNOU students, inmate Ishwinder Singh was awarded Completion Certificate of Master of Arts in HistorySukhdev Singh and Ashok Kumar were awarded with Completion Certificate of Bachelor Degree Programme.  9 IGNOU students were awarded with the Certificates in Disaster Management, 3 with Certificates in Aids and Family Education, 2 with Certificates in Food & Nutrition, 4 with Certificates in Human Rights, 3 with Certificates in Tourism studies. 10 inmates got certificates from Adult Education Department: 2 in Class-II, 1 in class III, 2 in Class V, 2 in class VII and 3 in Class VIII.

Jail inmates are being provided free education by IGNOU and Adult Education Department, Chandigarh Administration. 14 Certificates were awarded in Vocational Course of Bakery and Confectionary to female inmates. The two month course was conducted in collaboration with NGO Jan Shikshan Sansthan. Female inmates were taught baking of biscuits, cakes and bread; preparation of Chinese food, pickle, Jam, Murraba, Chutney and squashes etc.

Sh. A S Cheema. IPS, Inspector General of Prisons, U.T., Chandigarh, chief guest of this occasion urged and motivated the inmates to pursue more and more academic and vocational training courses and to contribute in National Development.   He directed Jail officials to start more educational and Skill Development Programmes so that they can be reformed and rehabilitated. Concluding the event Smt. Ranjit Kaur, HCS, Additional Inspector General of Prisons, U.T., Chandigarh gave vote of thanks to the Chief Guest.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
