Chandigarh, 26thth July, 2016: It has always been endeavor of the
Social Welfare, Women & Child Development Department to give focused
attention to different policy issues and keeping a meaningful thrust on the
activities aimed for the welfare and empowerment of the Persons with Disabilities.
The Department has been focusing to cover all the persons with probable
disability by conducting door to door survey and identify PwDs who need
Disability Certificate, Aid & Appliances.
The Department is also providing logistics
for such identified PwDs and facilitating them in getting disability identity
cards so that they can be linked with the benefits being provided under
different social security schemes. Now, the Social Welfare, Women & Child
Development, Chandigarh is organizing an
Assessment Camp for PwDs in collaboration with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing
Corporation of India (ALIMCO), a Central Public Sector Enterprise. In this camp,
assessment for the Aids & Assistive devices required for the PwDs shall be
made be it for locomotors devices, eye and ear etc. This camp is scheduled to
be held on 29-07-2016 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Aasha Kiran Building, Sector 46,
Near KUC Hospital, Chandigarh. And all the PwDs having disability certificate
and income less than 15000/- p.m. are eligible for availing this benefit.
