Drive against Diarrhoea- Intensive Diarrhoea Control Fortnight

Chandigarh, 22nd July, 2016:  “Health and Hygiene should be our priority these days for prevention of Diarrhoea.” emphasized  Dr. Vandana Gupta while appreciating school students at Govt. Sr. Sc. School, Mauli Jagran for enacting a skit on Diarrhoea Control.
Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) is being observed from 11th July, 2016 to 24th July, 2016 in Chandigarh by Health and Family Welfare Department, U.T. Chandigarh. Many activities were carried out for generating awareness among public regarding Diarrhoea-and its prevention. Four schools in the slum areas were taken up for spreading messages in respective areas i.e. Maulijargan, Hallomajra, Bapudham Colony and Sarangpur. School students enacted skits on Diarrhoea Control and were appreciated by dignitaries of Health Department. 157 schools were visited by ANMs for demonstration of such activities.  
Under IDCF, department covered under 5 children especially in villages and slums with ORS and Zinc where required and 8827 ORS packets have been provided. Messages regarding health hygiene and general cleanliness have been shared at different places such as schools, aanganwadis and all health facilities through mass media activities like Advertisements, Radio Jingles, Video spots on local cable TV, Puppet shows, Banners and Posters.

           Dr. Vanita Gupta, Director Health Services, U.T. Chandigarh appealed to the residents of Chandigarh to exercise the small preventive measures which will eventually help in  taking far strides to keep away the harmful effects of diarrhoea.
