Chandigarh, 9th July, 2016:Chandigarh Health Department in
Collaboration with School of Public Health, PGIMER, Gynae. Department, GMCH-32,
State Bank of Patiala and Rotary Chandigarh Sivalik organized free Health Camp
at Public Health Dispensary, Sector 25 today. The Health Camp was inaugurated
by Joint Commissioner MC Sh. Rajiv Gupta, IAS and Dr. Subhash Verma, Dean
PGIMER. This was the fifth Health Camp in continuation of previous four Health
Camps held at Daddu Majra, Maulijagran, Dhanas and Ramdarbar.
Dr.
Vanita Gupta, Director Health Services after welcoming the Joint Commissioner
and Dean PGIMER assured them that the optimum preventive, diagnostic and
curative services will be provided to people coming to the health facility with
expectation of getting best health care services.
Joint
Commissioner MC announced support in terms of equipment required to screen and
treat Cervical Cancer. The Rotary Chandigarh Sivalik has committed to print the
Health Awareness handbills and distribution of the same to the masses. Prof.
Rajesh Kumar, PGIMER and Director Health Services escorted the dignitaries
around the camp and explained
about all the services being provided by the Health Centre.
Specialists
from field of Medicine, Gynae., Eye, Skin and ENT examined patients and gave
free consultation. Around 752 patients were examined at the camp and approx 265
people were examined at Medical OPD and were given treatment accordingly 134
people were examined by Eye specialist at the venue. Under Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) approx 70
pregnant women were examined and provided with essential maternal health
services.
Dr.
Vanita Gupta said Senior Gynaecologists screened approx. 39 females above 30
yrs. for Breast and Cervical Cancers, out of these 4 were suspected for
Cervical Cancer. Total 88 people were examined by ENT specialist and one was
found to be suspected for Oral Cancer. Total of 91 people were examined for skin
diseases and most common problem was found to be fungal infection.
Nursing
students from School of Nursing, GMSH-16, conducted risk profiling of people
> 30yrs. Out of 112 people screened for Diabetes 22 were found to be
suspected for diabetes and out of 262 people screened for Hypertension and
Obesity, 9 were found to be hypertensive,31 were overweight and105 were found
to be obese. Approx. 106 people were tested for HIV and VDRL.
Counselling
was also given in small groups to the community regarding adoption of healthy
lifestyle like physical activity weight management, and early detection, signs
and symptoms, timely referral and management of Non communicable diseases by
Dietician. An informative and educative exhibition on HIV/ AIDS, Malaria and Leprosy
was organized to generate awareness amongst visitors.
