“Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan”

Chandigarh, 9th July, 2016:Under the “Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan” (PMSMA) an initiative of Government of India, the  second campaign was carried out today by the Health department U.T Chandigarh at four centres i.e. EWS Dhanas, Civil Dispensary Moulijagran, Civil Dispensary Ramdarbar and  PHD-25. This campaign was started in U.T. Chandigarh on the 9th of June 2016.

Dr. Vanita Gupta, Director Health Services said a total number of 357 pregnant women have been examined and 280 investigations carried out. The essential medicines like Calcium, Iron Folic Acid, Folic acid, Albendazole etc have been distributed to all the beneficiaries and 48 pregnant women are line listed for ultrasound examination which will be carried out at the ultrasound centres. Out of the registered pregnant women, 40 high risk pregnancies have been identified at the different centres and are being managed /referred to the higher institutes for further care.


This is a fixed day strategy for the antenatal mothers  on the 9th of every month across the country wherein the objective is to provide quality maternal health services to the women in the later part of their pregnancy .Under the campaign a minimum package of antenatal services which includes examination by a doctor, lab investigations, ultrasound examinations, immunizations etc are ensured for timely detection and treatment  of the high risk cases in order to reduce the maternal mortality and the associated morbidity as well as to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal of having a maternal mortality ratio of less than 70 per 1 lakh live births

The Health Department, U.T. Chandigarh under the leadership of Dr. Vinita Gupta , Director Health & Family Welfare cum Mission Director, NHM is committed to improve maternal  health services by providing quality services to all beneficiaries

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
