27th July, 2016: A large number of DUs
under various General Housing Schemes, Employees Schemes and other special
category schemes have been allotted by Chandigarh Housing Board, where under
balconies/verandahs have been provided.
The allottees of such DUs have been approaching CHB for permission to
install grills in the balconies/verandahs for the purpose of safety and
security. Considering the genuine demand of the allottees, CHB has allowed the
benefit of provision of grills of standard design in balconies/verandahs for
all DUs of CHB. This has been allowed as
per the already approved standard design of grills for the rehabilitation category
DUs. The drawing of the standard design can be downloaded on payment from the
website of Chandigarh Administration ‘Chandigarh.gov.in’ or the same can be
collected from Chandigarh Housing Board on payment of standard fee. The size of the standard design of the grills
can be modified in accordance with the size of balconies/verandahs of all the
dwelling units of different designs constructed in various parts of Chandigarh.
The grills of designs other than standard design installed in the balconies/verandahs
of CHB DUs will be regularized subject to payment of Rs. 5000/-per balcony/verandah.
Chandigarh 10 th August 2017: In compliance of the directions of the Government of India to take steps for improvement of ranking in “Ease of Doing Business’ index, the Chandigarh Administration has notified Chandigarh Building Rules (Urban) 2017. The existing building byelaws/orders/notifications issued from time to time have been reviewed bya committee. Since amendments to the building Rules were never compiled before, therefore, comparative analysis of existing building byelaws applicable in Chandigarh was done viz-a-viz Haryana Building Code 2016, TCPO Model Building Byelaws 2016 and NBC 2017. This exercise has simplified the building Rules as each and every rule has been tabulated and individual chapters including Commercial, Residential, Industrial, Institutional, IT Park, High Rise buildings etc. The report had been earlier approved by the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh after seeking views from general public.
