Department of Animal Husbandry & Fisheries goes Digital

Chandigarh, 2nd August, 2016: In accordance with the policy of Chandigarh Administration to computerize all the records, the Department of Animal Husbandry & Fisheries has taken the initiative to develop software web based application of Animal Husbandry Department of its own kind and developed for Department of Animal Husbandry first time in India.
The Department goes on-line and the software was inaugurated by Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, Administrator U.T Chandigarh today at Haryana Raj Bhavan. On this occasion Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator U.T. Chandigarh, Sh. Jitender Yadav, IAS, Secretary Animal Husbandry & Fisheries, Capt. Karnail Singh, PCS, Director and Dr. Kanwarjit Singh, Joint Director Animal Husbandry & Fisheries, U.T. Chandigarh and Sh. Anil Prasher SPIC Centre Head were present.
The software aims to facilitate the animal owners to register online for the treatment, vaccination, artificial insemination etc. The system will also help in bridging the communication gap between the workforce and also those who are taking services of the department. The software will help the management to keep a constant check on performance/relevant data and can access institute based data at any point of time. The software also aims at bringing transparency in the day to day working of the department. This will result in effective monitoring & surveillance of livestock diseases in the field.
The society for Promotion of Information Technology (SPIC) in Chandigarh under the aegis of Department of IT, Chandigarh was assigned the task of development of web based software for computerization of records for the Department of animal husbandry & Fisheries Chandigarh Administration and SPIC has   developed the entire application in-house on Net platform. A detailed system study was done by SPIC and based on that study and valuable inputs from the department a user friendly application has been developed which would make the processes of the department more efficient and transparent. 
The project gets impetus from the National e Governance Plan which aims to creating a citizen friendly environment for efficient governance.
Main objectives of the Project are to facilitate animal owners with online registration for treatment & other services like artificial insemination, vaccination etc., to maintain the records of Veterinary Hospitals & Veterinary Sub Centres i.e. OPD, Stock Book, Daily Medicine expenditure & Artificial Insemination etc besides history of treatment of each animal. The project also aims to keep a constant check on the performance/ data of any institute at any point of time, to centralize the records of all veterinary Institutes and to facilitate the departmental proceedings & functions for the timely submission of reports to Govt of India & other agencies


 The proposed web based application will provide login –id to public to view the treatment history of their animals and for online registration. Mobile apps can be developed / linked with web application. The application would also cater to computerize the records of Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Chandigarh, which is functioning as a Govt. Animal Welfare Organization in Chandigarh for the welfare of sick/ injured owner less animals.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
