Anurag Agarwal, IAS, Home Secretary cum Secretary Health today held a
meeting with the Dr. Vanita Gupta Director Health Services, Chandigarh
Administration, Dr. Surinder Paul, Director, India Meteorological Department,
Dr. Manoj K Arora , Director PEC, Dr. Gaurav Aggarwal, Anti Malaria Officer
with regard to setting up of Centre for Climate, Environment and Health in the
city Beautiful. The centre will be first of its kind to be set up in the
country which will be physically set up at PEC and Health Department of U.T
Chandigarh.
The centre will basically work on the
Geographical Imaging system (GIS), Health Informatics Lab and Climate and
Health Services Lab. The major stakeholder of the centre would be the Health
Department in partnership with PEC and knowledge partner Panjab University and
India Meteorological Department.
The first focus of the centre would
be to emphasize on the communicable diseases Followed by the non communicable
diseases. The data will be collected and sent to PEC for Geo Spatial Modelling,
studying the impact of climate on various diseases and Health. On the
grounds of the data collected, base model & strategy would be prepared to
handle will the adverse health situations. The said strategy will help the
Health Department to issue Health advisory to the residents of the city
fortnightly.
