Chandigarh to be the 1st city to implement Technology of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Drones

Chandigarh, 23rd September, 2016: Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, U.T. Chandigarh today reviewed the Technology of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Drones. Chandigarh is the 1st city to implement the technology of Aerial Survey/resurvey. The Drones have been implemented in collaboration with PEC Chandigarh and IIIT Delhi. Sector-7 Chandigarh is the 1st area to be surveyed in Pilot Phase of the Drone to achieve the component of Aerial Survey/resurvey for UT Chandigarh.

The Technology of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) (Drones) is capable of delivering  Cadastral maps overlaid on the Digital Elevation Map (tiff/jpg format) with minimum of ±2.5 cm accuracy, Orthomosaic  1:10000 (jpg/tiff format) and Digital elevation maps for sectors 7.


The aim of the 3D-GIS Mapping using Drones is to build a cost effective and efficient system in order to map and measure each and every corner/dimension or the legacy data of every property in UT Chandigarh. It will also help in gathering data using Drone technology to generate high resolution 3D maps/imaginaries of Chandigarh. The 3D-GIS Mapping using Drones aims at change detection: Requirement of superimposing the already existed cadastral maps of UT Chandigarh over the drone based 3D maps to study the changes that have taken place over time like Building Violation or encroachments. It will develop highly responsive Geographical Information System where in a single click, the details of each and every property in the UT Chandigarh can be retrieved.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
