Dengue drive conducted by the Health Department

Chandigarh, 19th September, 2016: Today 14 cases of dengue has been reported from various health institution for the tests conducted on Sunday and Monday which includes 9 fresh cases and 5 confirmed from probable cases(till the release of press note). Most of the cases of dengue are being reported from Sector 41, 42, 45, 15, Manimajra, maloya and maulijagran.No fresh case of Chickungunya has been reported in any of the health institution however testing facility for chickungunya has been started in GMCH sector 32 and will soon be started at GMSH sector 16 as well. To further strengthen the preventive activites, daily fumigation is being carried out alongwith strengthening of field activities which includes mass awareness, checking of breeding sources like coolers, containers, tyres and other sources. Till date 30 challans, 50 show cause notices and more than 2268 notices have been issued to the defaulters.

Free Dengue testing facility is available at Department of Virology, PGIMER Chandigarh, Department of Microbiology GMCH-32, GMSH-16 and District Priority Lab (IDSP) at Civil Hospital Manimajra
The residents of Chandigarh are requested to take following precautionary measures with regard to Malaria and Dengue.

Do’s & Don’ts for prevention & Control of Malaria & Dengue
Ø Do not allow water to stagnate in and around your houses.
Ø Remove water from coolers and other small containers at least once in a week.
Ø Always keep house top tank properly covered.
Ø Do not throw discarded containers, tyres, pitchers and pots on the roof top.
Ø Do not wear clothes that expose arms & legs.
Ø Use mosquito nets or mosquito repellents while sleeping.
Ø Avoid the use of Aspirin for Fever and Body Ache during dengue season
