Donation by Sh. D.P. Khandelia for the Stay Home for Mentally Challenged Children

Chandigarh, 6th September, 2016: The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), U.T. Branch, Chandigarh is a voluntary humanitarian organization engaged in purely charitable activities to protect human life and health based activities in India. It is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and so shares the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The mission of the Red Cross Society is to provide relief in the times of disasters/emergencies and promoting health and care of vulnerable section of the society.

The Red Cross Society, U.T. Chandigarh is currently providing a number of services to the poor, needy & destitute persons through its welfare projects. The Society is going to construct one of the most important and big project named “Infosys Red Cross Sarai” at PGIMER, Chandigarh with financial assistance of Infosys. Similarly, the Society is also going to start a Home for mentally and physically challenged persons at Sector 15 Chandigarh soon in association with the corporate houses and philanthropists. Sh. Devi Parsad Khandelia, Managing Director, M/s Khandelia Udyog Pvt. Ltd. and Khandelia Oil & General Mills Pvt. Ltd handed over the cheques of Rupees fifteen lac and ten lacs respectively (Total Rs.25 Lacs) to Sh.Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS, Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, UT., Chandigarh as a contribution for construction of said home in name of their beloved mother Smt. Rukmani Devi Khandelia. Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS, Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, UT., Chandigarh expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Khandelia family towards this noble cause. He further added that however this is a big project costing in Crore and hope that more donors like Sh. Devi Parsad Khandelia should come forward to contribute in this noble cause.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
