ELECTION NOTIFICATION

Chandigarh, 20th September, 2016: In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 5 and Section 6 sub-section (2) of the Punjab Municipal Corporation Act, 1976 as extended to the Union Territory, Chandigarh, by the Punjab Municipal Corporation Law (Extension to Chandigarh) Act, 1994 (Act, No. 45 of 1994), the Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, is pleased to determine the manner in which the reservation of seats for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and women shall be done;
1.     The reservation of five wards for Scheduled Caste candidates for the upcoming general election to the Corporation shall be made afresh on the basis of maximum percentage of scheduled caste population as shown in the latest Census of 2011 and defined in Sub-Section (36A) of Section 2 of the Punjab Municipal Corporation Act, 1976 as extended to UT of Chandigarh by the Punjab Municipal Corporation Law (Extension to Chandigarh) Act, 1994. Those wards which have the maximum percentage of Scheduled Castes as per the population Census 2011 shall be reserved for scheduled caste candidates for the upcoming election of the Councilors of the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh. During the next election, another five wards with the next largest percentage of Scheduled Caste population would be reserved and this process would continue till such time all the Wards have been reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates by rotation on the basis of latest census figures.

2.     The determination of Nine wards reserved for women shall be made through draw of lots. The wards reserved for women during the ensuing elections of the Municipal Councilors shall be excluded from the draw held for the determining wards during the next elections and this process of exclusion would continue till such time the total number of Twenty Six Wards have been fully reserved for women in rotation.
3.     The Wards of Schedules Caste Women out of the five wards to be reserved for Scheduled Caste would be determined by a public draw of lots.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
