Committee for Cases of medical negligence at various Government Hospitals in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 4th October, 2016: The Cases of medical negligence at various Government Hospitals in Chandigarh have been reported from time to time and at present there is no mechanism in place to examine such complaints. Therefore, a committee of following is constituted:-


  1. Director Principal,  Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh: Chairman
  2. Additional Secretary Health, Chandigarh Administration: Member
  3. Medical Superintendent,Government Multi Specialty, Sector 16, Chandigarh:  Member Secretary
  4. Dr. Ashish Bhalla, Professor, Department of Medicine, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Sector 12, Chandigarh: Member                                                                                                                                                        The Committee shall:- (i) Investigate the allegations of medical negligence and establish if there was any negligence or not? (ii) Identify the officer(s)/officer(s)/ persons guilty or negligence, if any. (iii)Identify and recommend the steps to be taken by the concerned institutions(s) to prevent such cases from happening again in future.


Anyone who has a grievance of medical negligence against any government owned health facility in Chandigarh can move an application to the member Secretary of the committee.
