First Mass Distribution of Aids and Appliances for the Divyangjan

Chandigarh, 3rd October 2016:  It has always been endeavor of the Social Welfare, Women & Child Development Department to give focused attention to different policy issues and on keeping a meaningful thrust on the activities aimed for the welfare and empowerment of the Persons with Disabilities. The Department has been focusing to cover all the persons with probable disability by conducting door to door survey and identifying PwDs who need Disability Certificate, Aid & Appliances and the Department is also providing logistics for such identified PwDs and facilitating them in getting disability identity cards so that they can be linked with the benefits being provided under different social security schemes. The Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, today organized 'First Mass Distribution of Aids and Appliances for the DIVYANGJAN' in collaboration with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), at Tagore theatre Sector 18 Chandigarh. Earlier, the assessment camp was organized on 29.07.2016 wherein ALIMCO assessed the participants & declared 190 persons as registered beneficiaries who can avail aid & appliances.

                                          On this occasion, Hon'ble Smt. Kirron Kher, Member Parliament U.T. Chandigarh was the chief guest. She Distributed 340 number of  Aid & Appliances in different categories i.e. Activa Scooters(Control in hand), Automatic Control wheel chair, Scooter, Wheel Chairs, Normal Chairs, Tri-Cycles, Hearing Aids, Artificial limbs, Brail Kits, White Cane & MSID Kits etc. to the Divyanjans and appreciated the efforts of the Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development in ensuring the welfare of the special class. Ms. Nishu Singal, Director Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, gave vote of thanks and ensured that the efforts for the empowerment of the Divyangjans will continue in future.

Public Camp Chandigarh, 28 January, 2016 :-  It is for the information of the general public that the public camp for 29/01/2016 is to be held at community centre of Sector 45. The sectors covered in the camp would be Sector 44, 45 including burial Village, 46 and 33 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 AM.
