Chandigarh, 1st October 2016: A unique venture called “DOCTOR AAPKE DWAAR” which is a Home Health for Elderly has been launched by Indian Red Cross Society, U.T. Branch, Chandigarh in association with Chandigarh Administration with active support from Indian Medical Association, Chandigarh, Dabur Dhanwantari Hospital, Sector 46, Chandigarh, Bharat Vikas Parishad, Chandigarh and Health Department, U.T., Chandigarh. Smt. Kirron Kher, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) inaugurated this unique project by launching Brochure of “DOCTOR AAPKE DWAAR- A HOME HEALTH FOR ELDERLY” at U.T. Guest House, Sector 6, Chandigarh.
The aim of this project is to provide Health Care to the elderly at their doorsteps and give them a comfortable and homely environment. For an average individual, 70% of health care needs can be met in their home environment and with nuclear families, changing family structures and increasing mobility of families, a large number of elderly citizens in Chandigarh are staying alone and need professional medical help from time to time. They face considerable difficulties in managing even minor health problems due to lack of availability of help at home and are sometimes hospitalized unnecessarily. In order to fulfill requirement of the Elderly people, the project called “Doctor Aapke Dwaar, a Home Health for Elderly” will provide following services at the door step of elderly persons.
In this project, home based services are available with the visit of empanelled Doctors, Physiotherapists including laboratory tests, ECG, X-Ray and Ambulance Services at nominal charges by availing services through Toll Free Helpline Number: 1800-180-2067 at Centralized Call Centre, Sector 19, Chandigarh. These services are available for all above 60 years. The fee for Doctor Aapke Dwaar has been kept has Rs. 750 for General Physician and Rs. 200 for Physiotherapists. Those who make a booking for 4 continuous doctor visits will be provided with a special package of Rs. 2500. The registration will be made during the entire month of October 2016 and the service will start from 1st November, 2016.
For effective implementation of the project, Indian Red Cross Society, U.T. Branch, Chandigarh proposed to hold Seminars for elderly on Chronic Illness, Cancer, Diabetes, Hypertension, Arthritis and General Health Awareness at the following mentioned dates and venues:-
1. Indian Red Cross Society, UT Branch, Karuna Sadan, Sector 11, Chandigarh on 6th October 2016.
2. Community Centre Sector 8 on 14th October 2016
3. Community Centre Sector 35 on 21st October 2016
4. Community Centre Sector 15 on 28th October 2016
Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, U.T. Chandigarh-cum-Chairman IRCS, Chandigarh, Sh. Rakesh Kumar Popli, PCS, Additional Excise & Taxation Commissioner, U.T. Chandigarh-cum-Secretary, IRCS, Sh. D.P. Khandelia, Dr. Vanita Gupta, Dr. Firuza Patel, the delegates from Indian Medical Association, Dabur Dhanwantry Hospital, Bharat Vikas Parishad and other officials from U.T. Red Cross were also present during the function.
