Culture, Traditions, People, Cuisines, Entertainment Summarizes the 8th National Chandigarh Crafts Mela
Chandigarh, 13th November, 2016: The 8th Annual Chandigarh National Crafts Mela,
jointly organized by the Chandigarh Administration and North Zone
Cultural Centre (NZCC) at Kalagram concluded with a bang. The ten day long Rajasthan themedMela
kept a special focus on folk traditions, arts and crafts of the region.
A
splash of colours, rhythm of drum beats and joy de-vivre merged on the final
day of the Crafts Mela. The richness and diversity of the handicrafts,
handlooms and cultural fabrics attracted thousands of people from distant parts
of the city.
Keeping
in view the overwhelming response, the numbers of ticket counters were increased
this year, which ultimately helped the visitors a lot. Food is yet another reason
that attracts huge crowd at such events and keeping up to the expectations of
food lovers the food court served rich Indian cuisines from
different traditions.
Last
day showcased a host of programmes of performing arts, with artistes from
Rajashtan performing folk songs and dance to an enthralling audience. The
fun filled ten days gave the glimpse of Start nights celebrated artists
performed daily in the evening. Chandigarh today grooved to the tunes of
Daler Mehendi, the voice of Punjab and the most entertaining singer who has also
contributed in the Indian Film cinema. Folk music, dances and musical evening
added a zing to the Crafts Mela today. Rangoli
and Folk Painters’ Camp by renowned artists were another attraction of this
Mela. Many VVIPs/VIPs and other dignitaries from the Government of India also
paid their visit at the much love Crafts Mela.
