Dates for filing nominations for Wards of the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 22nd November, 2016: The Administrator, Union Territory Chandigarh, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him under Section 15 of the Punjab Municipal Corporation Ac, 1976, as extended to the Union Territory, Chandigarh by the Punjab Municipal Corporation Law (Extension to Chandigarh) Act, 1994, has called upon all the 26 Wards of the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh , to elect councilors to constitute a new Municipal Corporation.
In exercise of the powers conferred upon the State Election Commissioner, under Rule 11 of the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh (Election of Councillors) Rules, 1995, Sh. Rakesh Mehta, State Election Commissioner, Union Territory, Chandigarh, hereby appoint, with respect to the above-said general election, the dates for filing nominations etc., as under:-
1.     Commencement of filing of nominations              22.11.2016 (Tuesday)
2.     Last date for filing nominations                                     29.11.2016 (Tuesday)
3.     Scrutiny of nominations                                       30.11.2016 (Wednesday)
4.     Last date for withdrawal of candidatures             03.12.2016 (Saturday)
5.     Date of Poll, if necessary                                      18.12.2016 (Sunday)
6.     Date of counting of votes for all 26 wards           20.12.2016 (Tuesday)
7.     Completion of Election                                        30.12.2016 (Friday)
Sh. Rakesh Mehta, State Election Commissioner, further appointed the hours of poll in respect of the above-mentioned general election as “8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. (without break)”, as required under Rule 29 of the aforesaid rules.
