Inauguration of the Chandigarh Pavilion at the 36th India International Trade Fair

Chandigarh, 14th November, 2016: The India Trade Promotion Organisation, New Delhi is organizing the 36th India International Trade Fair 2016 in the PragatiMaidan, New Delhi from 14th-27th of November, 2016 with the theme of “DIGITAL INDIA”.  Each year the Trade Fair is set up to boost business opportunities and share various techniques/reforms used by different States/UTs as well as countries in business.

The Chandigarh Pavilion at the International Trade Fair 2016 was inaugurated today by Sh. ParimalRai, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh in the presence of senior officers of the Chandigarh Administration.

The Department of Industries, Chandigarh Administration has set up the Chandigarh Pavilion in Hall No.6 within an area of 439 sq. mtrspace at PragatiMaidan, New Delhi. In the Chandigarh Pavilion, 9 stalls have been constructed out of which four stalls were allotted to various departments of Chandigarh Administration viz. Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation, Tourism Department, Government Museum & Art Gallery, Information Technology, Chandigarh and SPIC IT Incubation Centre and Jails Department to highlight the achievements made in the respective fields and for promotion of tourism.

There are 3 Handicraft artists from Chandigarh who are exhibiting their products, which includes decorative show pieces, planters & sculptures, wall hanging and decorative glasses. The jute basket painting of flower arrangements, string lights and lamp shades have also setup their stalls along with one manufacturer of Natural Herbal Aggarbati - Dhoop, Cones.

India International Trade Fair 2016, Chandigarh Administration has depicted the Technology Sector of Chandigarh to promote this year’s theme of the Trade Fair- Digital India. Various departments of UT Chandigarh have showcased the city beautiful through a wide range of stalls with an attempt to evolve into a 'Smart and Digital’ city. The beauty, cleanliness, greenery, and openness of the UT Chandigarh have been depicted in the Chandigarh Pavilion so as to attract the tourists to the City Beautiful. Jugnoo and RayCare have also been allotted stalls to represent Chandigarh as IT Startup Hub. 

The shape of the Assembly roof has been created with fibres and special lightening. The Capitol Complex, which was declared as the UNESCO World Heritage site has been represented as a model of Tower of Shadows and illuminated.

The idea of Chandigarh Pavilion is the futuristic digital Chandigarh. The model of Hop on Hop off bus is placed at the entrance with LED screen to showcase the journey of Chandigarh. The view of open hand has also been displayed in the Chandigarh Pavilion. The participants who have setup stalls are expecting good business and enquiries though this fair.
