Chandigarh, 2nd November, 2016: It has been made to appear to ShAjit Balaji Joshi, I.A.S., District Magistrate, Chandigarh that during the festival period, noise pollution caused by bursting/usage of fire crackers and Chinese/imported crackers is likely to create annoyance and cause injury to the health of members of public and that there is a need to prevent the same by restricting the bursting/usage of fire crackers and sale of Chinese/imported crackers.

Whereas, Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, I.A.S., District Magistrate, Chandigarh is of the opinion that immediate action is necessary to put restrictions on bursting/usage of fire crackers and sale of Chinese/imported crackers in the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

Therefore, Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, I.A.S., District Magistrate, Chandigarh hereby prohibit, within the U.T. of Chandigarh 

(i)  Bursting/usage of fireworks or fire crackers between 10:00 P.M. to 06:00 A.M.
(ii) Bursting/usage of fireworks or fire crackers in the areas notified as silence zone by the Department of Environment, Chandigarh
a).  Sector-1 (Capitol Complex including Rajendra Park and Chandigarh Club), Sector-12, Sector-14 (Panjab University), the entire area around the Lake up-to 100 meters from the high water mark, and the entire area North East of Uttar Marg including Rock Garden & Lake Club.
b).  An area of 100 meters around Hospitals, Education institutions, Courts and Religious places.
(iii)  The manufacture, sale or use of firecrackers generating noise level exceeding 125 dB (AI) or 145 dB (C) PK at 4 meters distance from the point of bursting & for individual fire cracker constituting the series, the said limit reduced by 5 log 10 (N) dB, where N= number of crackers joined together.
(iv) The sale of Chinese/imported crackers or fireworks.
This order shall be effective up-to and including 23.11.2016.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
