Chandigarh, 23th November, 2016:
A joint press conference was organized today by the Department of Tourism,
Chandigarh Administration chaired by Sh. Anurag Agarwal, IAS, Home Secretary
cum Secretary Tourism in regard to the Chandigarh Carnival 2016 and the 5th
Edition of the Chandigarh Cyclothon.
The
Chandigarh Carnival 2016 themed ‘Fantasy’ will be inaugurated on 25th
November by the Adviser to the Administrator, U.T Chandigarh Sh. Parimal Rai,
IAS. The carnival will be organised from 25th November to 27th
November. The three days
extravaganza will showcase performances by famous Bollywood and Punjabi singers
like Babbu Mann, Himesh Rashamiya and Neeraj Shridhar. Looking at the current demonetisation
Sh. Anurag Agarwal, IAS said, “ We have
ensured that the residents face no difficulty and enjoy the carnival for which
debit card swipe facility will be available at all the stalls during the
carnival so that the visitors face no trouble”. Further addressing the media Sh. Anurag Agarwal, IAS
said Neeraj Shridhar will perform on day one and Punjabi
Singer Babbu Mann will perform on day two and Himesh Reshamiya will perform on
the concluding day and will enthrall the audience with their performances.
The
5th Edition of the Chandigarh Cyclothon themed ‘Organ Donation’
encouraging all the participants to pledge organ donation is organized in
association with Avon Cycles and will be held on 27th November 2016
wherein more than 100 professional cyclists from across the country would
participate. Sh. Anurag
Agarwal, IAS while addressing the media during the press conference said, “this
year Chandigarh Cyclothon has a theme of Organ Donation, as the administration
is aiming to make it as a mass campaign across the city”.
The Chandigarh Cyclothon has already received 2000
entries and more entries are welcomed as registration desks will be set up in
Elante mall as well from 24th November. Sh. Anurag
Agarwal, IAS addressing the media
requested that the family members of the participants must attend the Cyclothon and encourage them.
