Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Elections

Chandigarh, 14th December, 2016: The 26 wards of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation will go on poll on 18th December 2016, wherein over five lakh voters will be casting their votes. There will be 445 polling booths and about 800 approximately EVMs procured for the elections.
The MC Election has 3 Election Observers, 7 Returning officers, 3 Expenditure Observers. Each Returning Officer has 2 ARO’s each. The administration has set up 7 enforcement teams comprised with staff of Chandigarh Police, Estate Office and Municipal Corporation. The election has 445 BLO’s who are supervised by 16 Master BLO’s.
In view of the Current Elections all the 7 enforcement teams under the supervision of the Returning officers are keeping a strict vigil in their respective areas in order to ensure that the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct is not violated, further to which a daily report is submitted by all the enforcement teams to their respective Returning officers. The returning officers have conducted rounds in their respective wards and have been keeping a constant check on any kind of violations.

To ensure that the residents of the city are well appraised about the voting, the Education Department, Chandigarh Administration has been organising voter’s awareness campaigns in various government and private schools with activities like painting competitions, oath taking, nukkad nataks etc.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
