Chandigarh Rural Sports Festival

Chandigarh, 11th December, 2016: Sports Department, Chandigarh Administration organized first ever Chandigarh Rural Sports Festival for women under the mission “Hum Chhuyenge Assmaan”  from  08.12.2016 to  10.12.2016 by outreaching to villages of U.T., Chandigarh’s vicinity. “Hum Chhuyenge Assmaan” is the mission under which women in the rural sector in the Chandigarh will be proactively encourage for mass participation in sports and furtherance of their sporting abilities to elite level for their social-psychological uplift as well as economic independence by employment through sports. There was tremendous response from all the villages for this innovative sports meet by excellent support from Sarpanches from various villages and physical education teachers of various schools located in villages of Chandigarh.
          The said sports festival comprises competition in five disciplines viz. Athletics, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho and Tag of War. All the position holders in said disciplines were awarded cash prize. The Sarpanches of respective villages were also honoured for their great contribution in generating awareness among women folk of rural sector of Chandigarh and making the said sports festival a grand success.  Capt Karnail Singh, Director Sports, Chandigarh Administration was the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony.

Administrator Launches Website of Sports Department Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 18 th  December 2018:  The website of Department of Sports, UT Chandigarh  http://www.sportsdeptt.chd. gov.in  has been launched today  by Hon’ble Governor Punjab & Administrator, U.T, Chandigarh, Shri. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
