General election to the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh, 2016

Chandigarh, 01st December, 2016: The general election to the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh has been scheduled to be held on 18.12.2016.          The political parties, contesting candidates and the press media are participating in the election actively. For the same The Election Commission of India has imposed restrictions on publication of result of exit poll and opinion poll at the time of elections to Lok Sabha and State Assemblies.
Therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by Sh. S. K. Srivastava, State Election Commissioner of U.T Chandigarh under article 243K and 243ZA of the Constitution of India read with the provisions of section 10 of THE PUNJAB MUNICIPAL CORPORATION ACT, 1976 AS EXTENDED TO THE UNION TERRITORY, CHANDIGARH, by The Punjab Municipal Corporation law (Extension to Chandigarh) Act, 1994,  has hereby directed:-
          The poll for the aforesaid general election will be conducted on 18.12.2016 during the hours of 8.00 A.M. and 5.00 P.M. (till the last voter in queue has casted his/her vote). It is hereby notified that the period between 8.00 A.M. and 5.00 P.M. as aforesaid on 18.12.2016 shall be the period during which conducting any exit poll and publishing or publicizing by means of the print or electronic media or dissemination in any other manner whatsoever, the result of any exit poll in connection with the said general election, shall be prohibited.
          It is further clarified that displaying any election matter including results of any opinion poll or any other poll survey, in any electronic media, would also be prohibited during the period of 48 hours ending with the hours fixed for conclusion of poll for the aforesaid general election.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
